    We had a doting mother
    A hard working father
    We were always #1
Let me tell you our needs
    Exceeded what others called met

    Then the fabric
    Of our important world
    Quickly fell apart
    Yes … we had problems
    No … they had problems
    Which became our problems

We went from #1 to 99
    And that aint fine
    No more family times
    No more mother son days
    No more fun games
    And unusual eats
No more trips to the mountains
    Just to reach

    Good thing Mommy Blood
    & Daddy Crypt came along
For I had things to learn
    That they wanted to teach
    Along with this came scrill
    Come what may
    Money talks
    And they are always there

    Mommy Blood & Daddy Crypt
    They came to our games
    They came to out practices
If I walked outside my school doors
    They in the parking lot
    Mommy Blood and Daddy Crypt
    They planning a picnic
    Just like mommy used to
    Got good eats too

    Just like Mommy
    They do not like McDonalds
    Every week is a struggle
We fight them …. They fight us
But we have each others back
    The Crypts for Crypts
    The Bloods for Bloods

Mom steadily talks about getting a car
So we can do what we used to
    She wants to struggle
Believing the $1500.00 the court said
    She can have
    Is for sure money

    Yesterday I laughingly offered
To sell rock to buy her a car
    She rejected the idea
    Saying … be patient
    Things about to get better
Yet knowing Mommy Blood &Daddy Crypt
    Can readily supply me
    A not stolen vehicle
    Makes me think
    She aint right

I want to listen to her
But Mommy Blood & Daddy Crypt
Show me with money and time
    All my Momma’s offering me
Is words of wisdom, shelter and
A slow path to my needs
    Mommy Blood & Daddy Crypt
I think they is my family

Bloods and Crypts are groups who are considered gangs in the US. Some people have different ideas of how these groups started or what was their intention. My personal opinion is they are goups of negative influence who focus on criminal behavior to achieve goals. They seek out children who are young to add to their numbers. Unfortunately they prey on poor children. Poor children are becoming wiser as to how to avoid this lifestyle so the greater numbers joining this wannbee situation are middle class children who either are lacking a support system or have self esteem issue or want to make quick money or find the lifesyle fascinating. For older children there is the thrill of alcohol sex and the excitement of an illegal life. With these two boys that the piece is about they to show allegience at one point or the other set up the other to be killed to show that they were a good blood or good crypt. The fact that they were brothers was no longer important. They were and are close but the psychology of the life made common sense fly out the window. i am sure that there will be a good end to this story. However at the height of the situation there was no true way to solve the situation in that almost all neighborhoods were dangerous for either of them.

This is a simplified answer to the above.

thank you for the support Ibrahim

unfortunately in America the pull to prison life is strong for black children because thug life is strongly encouraged through entertainment industry and street life. When families lack the understanding as to what black children need and how to suport them they fall prey to this.

my personal experience with this situation was I would know the real news sometimes before it hit the six o'clock news.

I look forward to the better ending, we cannot abandon children even when they make outrageous choices.

    Peace
    Patrice
