In these times

In these times, its throwbacks
I sit in a throw; I’m cold wishing I could go back
To Rodney king before he got beat
Would he avoid if he knew his fate when he power steered that street

Would Farrakhan still march for me?
Would jay still commit larceny?
Even though we two men of contrasting faith
I still pray for him, if we meet those gates

Bill gates, I guess he would be cocky if he knew his empire
On earth, he do things different, try to force it and burn fire
On many fortune 500’s would be 250’s
Would I be a poet, street mc, somebody feel me

If I could go back, I’d forewarn king of his death
I take a last breath, to stop jfk, maybe things a right stead of left
But this is what we got due to men’s plot
Would I fight for forty acres and the land we plotted?

I tell you what, I’d go back to the days when colored folks
Were on the bus, picking cotton to pick up hope
I’d take a young man with me to show em how men cheat
On they wives, before rap glorified these lives

It first turned on tv, shafting over dolo
One of the latest global mistrusts got our women solo
An that hurts me truly, that we gotta struggle to get a movie
Back then, we was lucky to even see a movie

Now get up and turn the channel
Ain’t no remote
