We Talk About Women Being Raped, Not Men Raping Women.' Meet the Man Behind the Viral Quote

If you use Facebook or Twitter, chances are you’ve seen some version of this quote by Jackson Katz, in which the educator, filmmaker, and activist points out how problematic it is that passive language is used to describe violence against women.

    Here’s how it begins:

“We talk about how many women were raped last year, not how many men raped women. We talk about how many girls in a school district were harassed last year, not about how many boys harassed girls. We talk about how many teenage girls in the state of Vermont got pregnant last year, rather than how many boys and men impregnated teenage girls.”

No, this assumes the majority of guys harassing black females on the job are of the same race. I am well aware of WM's desire for dark meat. I had to travel to a conference my ex was attending. WM was determined to have her. Even after I showed up. I took pics of him all on her. Sent them to his then wife. ( Caption: what he's really doing when he travels ) I then had to take him to the tool shed. I don't recall breaking anything.

I also could show you the files of how I stopped the harassment of management on the job as a UAW VP. I don't have to prove my credentials to you or anyone else

When Black Women's Stories Of Sexual Abuse Are Excluded From The National Narrative

On what happens when women of color do speak up about sexual harassment

You know, it's really interesting because I think of Lupita Nyong'o's New York Times article where she talks about her encounter with Harvey Weinstein, and it was one of the more moving and very well-written accounts of what it was like to have to deal with a man who was powerful yet charming yet fearsome. And it struck me that ... it was her account that Weinstein or his team forcefully pushed back on. Not only is there a sense of we're excluded from the narrative, but even when prominent members of our community are in the narrative, that we're the ones whose stories are pushed back upon. We're the ones who are lying.

Gabrielle Union critiques the #MeToo movement: “I think the floodgates have opened for white women”

Not to diminish anyone’s trauma, but the voices of black women and women of color need to be heard just as loudly and clearly in this discussion of rape culture and consequences for abusers. And right now, Union said, “I think the floodgates have opened for white women.” She continued: “I don’t think it’s a coincidence whose pain has been taken seriously. Whose pain we have showed historically and continued to show. Whose pain is tolerable and whose pain is intolerable. And whose pain needs to be addressed now.”

Music Mogul Russell Simmons Is Accused of Rape by 3 Women

In 1995, Drew Dixon was working her dream job as an executive at Def Jam Recordings, helping to oversee a chart-topping album and a ubiquitous single by Method Man and Mary J. Blige. But as her star rose, Ms. Dixon, then 24, was spiraling into depression, she said, because of prolonged and aggressive sexual harassment by her direct supervisor, Russell Simmons, the rap mogul and co-founder of the label.

On work calls, he would talk graphically about how she aroused him. At a staff meeting, he asked her to sit on his lap. He regularly exposed his erect penis to her. Late that year, Mr. Simmons raped her in his downtown Manhattan apartment, Ms. Dixon said. She quit Def Jam soon after.

    “I was broken,” she said.

Reimer: NFL Network lawsuit means #MeToo movement is heading towards pro sports

The #MeToo movement has deposed powerful men in Hollywood, media, politics and business. Now it appears to be racing towards the world of professional sports.

On Monday, Bloomberg reported a former wardrobe stylist for NFL Network filed a wrongful termination suit against NFL Enterprises in Los Angeles Superior Court back in October. In it, Jami Cantor describes incidents of harassment from several high-profile ex-players and one executive. The accusations include workplace propositions for sex, incessant groping and unsolicited pornographic text messages.

In her amended complaint, Cantor says former Patriots fullback Heath Evans sent nude pictures of himself and constantly asked for sex. He also allegedly made inappropriate comments to Cantor, such as expressing his desire to be in her “deep and hard.”
