As my womanhood was prematurely split open
so was my body split open
and my organs spilled out from eyes in tears of salty oceans
My cries aligned the planets in mourning
My father, the sun, blazed in anger and
the oceans were reduced at his fury
Cease the day! Screamed my mother, the moon,
creating swirling black holes upon atmospheric surfaces
Even the tempests raged in mimicry of the faces of her rage
My strong, vibrant temple now resembled the ruins of Rome
and my frame of mind shriveled like rose petals in 190-degree weather
Someone must pay!! And so I struck out in all directions
with the venom of Medusa's blood upon my lips
But there is no price... there is no price... for rape
Zues and Hera, Isis and Osiris
their wrath complete in my anger, my fury, my rage
Now I stand disgusted and yet curiously hypnotozed at the stride
of pride upon a man's legs
I love and yet despise the black skin pulled taut over muscle and bone
    I scream to be understood,
    Silently.
    I fight to survive,
pen and paper, sword and shield
Do I dare taste of African sweetness
when it is so bitter from memory.

    History....

This poem is about my expereince with sexual assault, and I wrote it out of hope that one day someone would be able to benefit from hearing it, you know? That's actually my main reason for writing anything... so that on day my words would be the words that provide direction and hope for someone who feels lost... If you would like to talk about this issue, and you don't want to post it here on destee.com, hit me up on AOL as poetic424, or e-mail me at [email protected] :)

    BTW....

That's right, Anna. Whatever doesn't kill you makes you stronger, and as long as you always remember that, you'll survive in life. I don't know why God let that happen, but looking that the person that I am now, and comnig to understand myself better as I get older and endure other experiences, I can guess....

    Peace and Blessings

I wanna thank you guys for the support. In reply to Anna, I am not angry anymore, babe. I used to be, this poem was written over four years ago, when I was still in high school. You and both remember how painful those days were....

In regards to Khasm, thank you very much for taking the time out to view my poem, I am glad that you enjoyed it, and grateful for your support. :)

Thanks Absolut, I have referred to my pen and paper as my sword and shield since high school. I have an absolutely awful temper, however as one gets older self control becomes expected. So, instead of simply decking the living daylights out of my peers, I would slice them up on pen and paper, and then read it a local open mic night or at a school talent show!! *lmao* Ahhhh, sweet revenge!!!
