    Yes

One of the greatest rap songs ever produced. This song changed the hip hop party crowd of the early 1980's into dancers with a conscious. And by the early 1990's that conscious had been smashed. The verse by Melle Mel that starts "a child is born with a state of mind" was actually featured on a 15 minute rap song called "Superrappin'" in 1979. But you know all dat SJ. I'm just talking out loud.

yeah.. disco had wiped out most of the message music of the 70s.. and, as
we always do, black folks changed channels and started to express themselves
through a brand new expression that was new but somehow encompassed
all the older expressions also.. it was beautiful.. and it still is.. despite the
interference being run.. the conscious artist is a formshifter that will flip
into something else without a moments notice.. the Poetry scene was a
reaction to the pollution of hip hop..

    [Hook]
How low can you go? [8x]

I like it when i see you do it,
Better then i ever seen it done before,
A lot of women drop it to the ground,
But how low can you go?
Lower then your mama’s ever seen it in her life time,
Never would’ve imagined did not even in her right mind,
Practice in front of that mirror,
Now you doing it on the dance floor,
Mad cause i can’t get wit ya ya just show me how to dance (OH!)
I may not wanna get low so i post it up kinda like a playa do,
But if you come to the crib,
Then i might show you girls a thang or 2,
Yea i think you a superstar wit a As* like that you gotta blow,
    Before you make it big,

I once had on tape a 20-25 minute freestyle he did about his life story, including how he made his come back from drugs....
