Meet Kelvin Cochran, he was fired from his job as fire chief of Atlanta for expressing his faith.
“I was shocked that writing a book encouraging Christian men to be the husbands and fathers that God has called us to be would jeopardize my job.”

Atlanta has some elements that are so far to the left that it is to be expected that something silly like this would eventually happen. His book probably made some alternative lifestyle people uncomfortable, even though he never had any complaints about his personal views affecting his professional responsibilities.

I'm not one to throw great men who put their lives on the line to save others in dire need under the political bus but ex-fire chief Cochran who in my eyes still is and always will be a great man was wrong and he well knows that. There is a story behind this situation and even though every Black American pretty well knows former mayor Kasim Reeds corrupt political/business practices, he did nothing White politicos haven't done, still are and always will do under the color of authority. Funny how a great number of us just yip and yap at "The Other Man's" political misadventures but seek to excoriate our own under the guise that we should be better then "The Other Man" which at best is hypocritical because every man in every race has strengths and weaknesses.

BTW: Retired FDNY FF Dennis Smith wrote books too but knew enough to enter the halls of power on bent knees and ask his chief and the mayors approval and more so their blessing with a sizable financial tribute to both men. Many call this corruption but the knowledgeable ones know to label this the business of politics or the politics of business, depending on which side of the fence one observes these things.

Symbol I am just an observer. As the old people say, "A book has a cover, contents and the back".

For those black folks who acknowledge that there are evils in our midst is to received harsh condemnation. We must always be able to see both sides of the coin.

My comment was in no way a slight against you dunwiddat. You're always good to go with me. Just me growing weary of selective rage against our own leaders depending on who's in favor on any given day of the week is all. Former DC Mayor Marion Barry who single-handedly accomplished more for DC Blacks then all the White mayors before him was another perfect example of falling victim to White instigated bootlick politics thanks to the DC FBI house Negro Hazel Moore, a well known race sellout, opportunist, 5 dollar hooker and rock head. What her White FBI handlers failed to tell her was she was nothing more to them then fodder to get back at Marion Barry for making them look bad when he headed up SNCC in the 60's and lambasted the only certified criminal president to date "Richard Milhous Nixon" who publicly promised to destroy Marion Barry after the Martin Luther King Jr./NASA Apollo monument decision. Like GOD we Blacks are a forgiving lot and Marion Barry was again elected Mayor of DC after he served time for the trumped up Post COINTELPRO FBI charges that "Richard Milhous Nixon" had a dirty White paw in.

I believe that unless we as black people call evil behaviour for what it is we will be setting a wrong example to our young people. Look at African leaders. A classic example of Nigeria the world's third largest producer of oil. Hundreds die every year trying to syphon off oil from the oil tankers.

269 dead in Lagos pipe blast - News24

This happened in 2006 and I believe this will continue. Leaders especially black leaders must begin to think of their people corruption continues whilst the people suffer.

Robert Mugabe home: Satellite image of mansion where dictator is ...

Enjoying the good life whilst his people suffer.

    |will never stifle my conscience nor will I condone the behaviour of wicked black men. Sad to say they are black folks who will find a million excuses to justify the behaviour of these disgusting people I love Africa where my ancestors
came from but I am not thrilled about the leadership in the countries. Corruption must be rooted out and we must call it for what it is. We cannot condemn other ethnic groups but refuse to see what is a disgraceful condition among our black people.

I am going to keep my personal experiences with ARC concerning NOLA to myself and just post the most accurate assessment of why in 1970 after NYC was called "The Big Apple" NOLA was aptly called "The Big Easy" but why it's really called that is really only known to it's born and raised indigenous population. I wasn't born and raised in Louisiana but like some that have visited NOLA I pretty much have an inkling as to why it's "Earned" such a name, sordid reputation notwithstanding.
