Maturity

When I was 16
I met a guy, 23
It went str8 to my head
Cause I was mature you see
Nothing no one said
Could make me leave him alone
Determined to prove I could deal
And handle my own
Although I was young
I was very head strong
Thought the decisions I made
Could never be wrong
So here I was “Maturity”
Amazin him with mental stability
My parents wasn’t havin it
They said he was just too old
I thought they were just old fashioned
And their hearts were just cold
I had to make a choice
So I decided to act
Since my folks was trippin
I went behind their backs

STOP!
See, this was the first mistake, not listening to wisdom
My folks use to always say, they been down the roads I was trying to cross
They were trying to keep me from making the same mistakes, but I didn’t listen
I am learning a lesson that I will continue to learn for the rest of my life.....smh
PLAY!

Started sneaking off from home
Trying to be with this man
He knew things I didn’t know,
On life he had the upper hand
But you know me
Miss Maturity
thought I knew how to deal
But I didn’t you see
Soon time 2gether got heated
A lot of touchin and kissin
Tryin to be Mature
My child hood I was missin
Trying to be grown
And you know what came next
All that touchin and kissin
Soon led to sex

One day I got sick at school
In my mind I already knew
I was only 16
Carrying a child......was this a dream???
I made my choice
I wanted to keep my child
Went to school everyday
Good grades the whole while
Graduated on time
A bundle of responsibility
Handling things on my own
Now living Maturity
As for the dad
Thought he was every bit of cool
But when reality set in
Found he was a grown Fool
To all my young sisters
Don’t rush life
Take your time
Enjoy being young
So be young and shine
