NNQ you hit the proverbial nail right on our heads of refusing to accept the stark pull no punches reality and more so the futility of our races position in America. There are a couple of threads here stating that collectively we have billions of dollars in liquid (not invested or otherwise committed) economic power which in reality is a paper tiger because where does most of our money go? Don't answer, we all know where it "DOESN'T" go. I won't address our political power base or our actual collective deed cleared real estate holdings because those two major impacting powers are too tenuous to maintain real time stats on any given month. Historically The NAACP, CORE, NOI, the Black Panther Party and SNCC were to be our jumping board to some fair manner of balanced independence but just as long as "The Other Man" has the typical badge carrying house negro's afoot to destroy the very ones who could free them from their own yokes of slavery of the mind and soul we'll never progress. More soul destroying then anything is our apathy. That is the worst sin. Excellent post NNQ. Keep them coming.

I don't care what nobody says, no one can rock a bald head or a closely cropped hair cut like a sister! Beautifully shaped dome, almond shaped eyes, high cheek bones and full lips. The Wakanda warriors could start a fashion trend to replace weaves and save sisters a ton of money in the process. Wishful thinking, anyway. Compare the sisters in this slideshow to other women and you be the judge...

James, can you relate to the more conscious in our communities and countries questioning why we are holding on so strongly to Black Panther's conjecture/what might have been/FICTION, as opposed to the reality of the [the exploits of Lewis Latimer, the Tuskegee Airmen or the still top secret exploits of Lloyd Quarterman and the 6 other African Americans scientists who were prominent on the Manhattan Project] manner in which the 17 Olmec Heads [weighing 2 – 20 tons, what do you know about them] unearthed to date in Mexico [along with American corn/cocaine being found in Egyptian mummies/other plants being in Africa for over 4000 years] highlighting that Africans were going back and forth across the Atlantic nearly 3 millennia before Christopher Columbus was born,?

What about Luzia’s people highlighting an African presence in north east Brazil 15 000 BCE?

All of which surely begs the question WHY we are so entranced by their mass media choosing to project and promote this FICTION as opposed to the so still ultra efficiently marginalized to totally ignored to this day [above] TRUTH?

[QUOTE="carol waters, post: 997174, member: 58252" It seems white studios have been our champion when it comes to black heroes. I thought the Wyans Brothers would change their tune and learn some sort of dignity when it came to african american heroes. They kept up their minstrel show campaign and kept blacks as stereotypical as ever. "Blank Man", comes to mind.

Chris Rock didn't help matters with Pootie Tang.

The change i first observed was Spawn. A white studio. But they disfigured him so that he wasn't the "handsome" hero/anti-hero. But a hero, nonetheless.

Next came the Blade Franchise. Stephen Norrington a white director, was given a paltry sum, and told by the studio to yes, "make a blaxploitation movie." He got pissed and championed to raise the bar. This was a Marvel Comics character, and though the hero was black, Norrington's contention with the administrators was Blade didn't have to be "stereotypical". Nor disfigured. Wesley Snipes became an icon due to that role, and many well-chosen ones further down his career path, until.. well.. you know.

The only black heroes i've seen after this was Will Smith. I thought he was great, not only because he was a black hero, but he also used his own movie/studio to make those movies. (I, Robot, and I am Legend)..

Then, the minstrel show happened again with Hancock. A stereotypical black super hero, through the guidance of a white male, finally became a "decent" black super hero. Why he did that? I have no idea. He even agreed to do a scene where he was banging prostitutes, and every time he had an orgasm, he blew them out of the room or the building, or something to that effect.

Smith aslo could have been the super hero of the movie The Matrix. He was approached by the Wachowski brothers first.

Unfortunately, Smith wanted to play the role of Neo, "his" way. He wanted comedic relief, as well as breaking the third wall. Pretty much the role he played in Men in Black. I'm sure, this was something he was much more comfortable with, versus having to work hard at something he wasn't used to. The Wachowski brothers kept it moving, and decided on the hollywood "shoe-in" known as Keanu Reeves.

From my observation, white studios have been the hallmark of generating unforgettable black super heroes. When it came down to american black actors, "taking the reigns" in this matter, they've under estimated themselves./QUOTE]

Carole, don't some of this film's critics have a point with regard to why we are holding on so strongly to Black Panther's conjecture/what might have been/FICTION, as opposed to the reality of the [the exploits of Lewis Latimer, the Tuskegee Airmen or the still top secret exploits of Lloyd Quarterman and the 6 other African Americans scientists who were prominent on the Manhattan Project] manner in which the 17 Olmec Heads [weighing 2 – 20 tons, what do you know about them] unearthed to date in Mexico [along with American corn/other plants being in Africa for over 4000 years] highlighting that Africans were going back and forth across the Atlantic nearly 3 millennia before Christopher Columbus was born?

What about Luzia’s [below] people highlighting an African presence in north east Brazil 15 000 BCE?

All of which surely begs the question WHY we are so entranced by their mass media choosing to project and promote this FICTION as opposed to the so still ultra efficiently marginalized to totally ignored to this day TRUTH [above], what do most of us know about the 17 [2 to 20 ton dated 400 - 1300 BCE] massively superb Olmec Heads unearthed in Mexico to date?

Isn’t it also a FACT that WE are still not fixing up TODAY with regard to the spiritual and intellectual uplift putting in place NOW [should have been one of the first initiatives post our alleged independence in both the Diaspora and Africa] a truthfully updated African History curriculum in our schools, colleges and universities in both the African Diaspora and Africa could/would give to both our individual and collective knowledge base, and self esteem in the 21st century?

Carole, this post is an example of the sort of censorship that Facebook is doing as standard because my attempt to attach Deric Muhammad [NOI spokesman] very very enthusiastic praise on Youtube video of Marvel Disney’s Black Panther Film has been blocked as SPAM, cannot be shared on Facebook as it would so very very obviously go viral.
