    She sang just for me
    Back in ‘63
    Her wig on tight
    Her dress
    Long and tight
    Batting long full lashes
    She smiled my way
As she stretched her hands up above
Singing the first song..."I’m ready for Love"

    She and her crew
Sexy ladies from the front to the back
The packed house of the Fox Theater broke
    When they did “Jimmy Mack”

In my world of urban poverty
    She was my joy
    I see her clearly now
As I did as a ten year old boy

    Not quite glamorous
    But raw and sexy
    "Heat Wave"
    "Dancing in the Street"
    "My Baby Loves Me"
    Yeah

    Girls relating to the lyrics
    Turning on all the fellas
    Always gonna love me
Some Martha Reeves and the Vandellas

Now you know I'm diggin this! You paint the scene so vividly! I'm right there in that audience, watching Martha work her magic! ...on my tip toes, right behind that big headed, wide eyed, love struck, little boy!!!!

    Thanks for taking me there...

Yeah, I was coming into my own, at about 14. Thanks for the memories.
