Hate to tell you uncle but it is so. However, I don't hide behind spirituality. It is a way of life for me. I was called out by my ancestors to practice. It wasn't my first choice but an obligation. Before my adventure into African Spiritual Traditions, I didn't subscribe to any form of spirituality and actually considered myself atheist at some stage in my life - well at least a classic agnostic. I had no choice but to answer the call and my life is infinitely better because of it.
The things I have witnessed since then are probably more than most people will even know about life or will even experience in their lifetime. I went from homeless, suicidal and penniless to owning 3 properties and a multi-millionaire dollar enterprise as well as becoming a self made millionaire in less than 4 years. I was promised a life beyond my wildest dreams and I have been living one since I accepted my calling. I have seen things that if I could take my eyes out and wash them, I would have about 5 times by now. They defy logic and reason.
This is my decision and not anyone else's. This is what my ancestors wanted. What I know... the more I learn the less I know. Sometimes I wish I could go back and drink the kool-aid and be ignorant of the things I have seen or experienced. Life is not the neat little box I once knew with a rational and logical explanation for everything. Remember I am a scientist by training.
Well, if that's what it takes for you to maintain your sanity, so be it! But don't forget that the objective is not to recreate ancient Afrikan culture in this country, but to synthesize the best from the various Afrikan cultures, and create a new one that addresses the problems we face today!!!
