    um

i write poetry but i'm not a poet
i just tap into the source and hustle & flow it
read what i wrote can't believe i wrote it
    but hold it

for me it's still about the streets
    trying to eat
keep a roof over the head for a place to sleep
trying to chop a foot off of being six feet deep

so when i write it's written from my soul
one minute i'm hot next minute i'm cold
but you best believe i play my cards right
    i never fold
    mama did say
    when they made me
    they broke the mold

I write to ease the pain the strain
I write to spread the love
    I write because it's natural
    for me writing always was

    I write because it's language
    expression
    freedom
    I am me

    I write because it's communication
    for me poetry
    always was and
    will be

    It's amazing
the way we scribe these thoughts
    these poems
    these stories
    these truth
    these liez

    we all write
    and write
    and write
    and write

    becasue writing helps

    us rise

    without the ability
    to write a poem
    I feel like I can't breath

    got up this morning
    and came right here

    cause a real poem is

    what I need

    to feed my mind
    when i'm hungry
i love that food for thought

    poetry
    poetry
    poetry
    poetry

    expresses all the miles

    we have walked.

    just my quick thoughts.

    Loving this scenario So'ja

I still say you're a poet, So'ja, lol, and I really like the ease of your flow Miss Lady.

    I write poetry
    for different reasons
I suppose my reasons for scribing
vary as much as the seasons
    but...

    Sometimes I write because
I get a picture in my mind
an image, a vision, that my thoughts
    just can't leave behind
    and so I write

    Other times I write because
    one crisp line will unfold
and I have to add to it
    and let that story untold
    scribe to completion

    We all have moments
that we just have to vent
    That's when pen hits paper
Until that angst has been spent
    And then...

    There are those occasions
where I experience something so rare,
    so sensational, so marvelous
that the ink just burns inside of me to share
    and so I do

If I write of a fiery orb in the sky
Can you feel the heat, can you also see that sun?
If I write about walking on nails that don't
pierce my feet, could that somehow inspire one,
two, or more than a few,
    to walk on nails too?
Gee, I guess I have so many reasons for rhyme
So, tell me Destee poets, what inspires you?

I write poetry in due time
I guess I write poetry, because I'm addicted to rhyme
I'm not the best freestyle artist in the world that one would be obsessed with
But when the finished product is read, it is something the be impressed with
For those of you who read my writes, well, the majority of what I pen
Can kind of figure that I'm addicted to a particular imparative that I articulate every now and then
Of what I expeience, and mostly of what I fantasize about
Of what peaks my interest ... and what makes me scream and shout

    [lmao]

I write poetry ... as a challenge to number one
Challenging myself with the limits of a language that's not outdone
Unsung I am, at least that's what others say when they read what I think
Words on a pages with the contents of spilled ink
I think before I write, then transcribe my thoughts to be read
For one that's quiet such as myself, I have a lot that can be said
About life, and love, and philosophy, and sex
And God, and order, and literature, and text

[looking ahead with a straight face]

I write because it like fire shut up in my bones
For it once its ignited it won't leave me alone
I got to aloose the ticktock of the rhyme
Or be caught up in the horrid crime
the crime of stealing my soul's sanity
For me its more than mere vanity
It it is how i keep the sorry away
And capture the happiness of today
I write cuase it's all I know to do
And its what connects me to you

Garlicsalt, to say you have a handle on word usage is putting it quite mildly, your love of language not only shows, it glows.
And connect to us you do, asimplepoet, your ink is potent.

Okay poets, keep laying it down. Why do you write?

    I'm Hooked!

Yeah garlicsalt99, whats that about God, order, literature and text? LOL I haven't read those pieces!!!! But anyways, this is how I feel:

This new found love is like an adventure
Only been writing for 9 months and now I'm trapped like a slave endentured
Started writing poetry to release my emotional woes
And now its all I think about depending on which way the wind blows

If its blowing East or West my writing might take on the form of romance
If its blowing North or South you might catch me somewhere in the heat of the moment without any pants (LOL...I'm cracking up)
But no matter what the season, weather or day of the week
My heart has been captured by the uniqueness of this thing we call poetry!

    Hey Family
I was reading all the comments and poetry that you have express
in regards to why you write poetry and i feel so bless to be a part
of it all. Here with all of you .Yes I Do!
    I Write Because
I like to paint pictures with words.
Bringing to life what I see
    and things I feel.
    I'm not a poet
    Just a story teller.
Leaving bits and pieces of myself
    like pebbles on the sand
I write so I can free
    the things that clouds mind
    within thoughts
    To feel the clear sky
    Taste the cool water
    Embrace the warm nights
    And then become
awaken by the touch of the pen
as it glides across the blank pages
    And
    my keyboard becominga
    media station to communicate
    before that
final release of me for others to see
    Once in a Venus Moon
    I will vent to tears
That which cuts pieces of my heart
    Yet through it all
    More then anything
I love to write of love
    share love
because we need to hear and feel it
    love
    I do love to
    give love
there is never a limit of love
and the cost is from the heart
    to give freely, willingly
    And to
    express love
    openly
    pure and honestly.
    A smile
    a nod, a wink
With the tip of my pen
and the touch of my keys
    flowing freely ....Mm
    But most of all
    I enjoy and love
    being in love
    with a deep caring
    so I write
    of the love for our
    Brothers, Sisters, Children
And all the Glory which we have
    been blessed with In Nature.
    The gift from above
    I'm honor to be
    a part of it all
    To
    Feel the love.
    And be apart of
    Our
    Father love
    I'm encourge by LOVE

I write to keep hope alive
I write so my soul survives
I write when I feel inspiration or to vibe
I write cuz I know that somehow it will be alright
I write cuz there's a rhyme to the reason
    I write to understand
I write cuz there's freedom with holding a pen and paper in my hand
I write cuz no body knows me like I know myself
I write cuz I release the negative and let the positive affirm my wealth

    I write in the midnight
    As I trace my thoughts
I write cuz there's something greater than me
    Beyond
    It is the truth unknown
    The things learned
    The knowledge self-taught
I write when I am not heard
But it is only the creator and me
I write to give back my gratitude
For tha spirit that is living within me.
I write to feel closer to God.
I write to pour out my soul
When I feel I have been forgot
I write to Him cuz he knows my whole story
    And so I continually
Give him back all of my poetry.

    I write because...

    Much Love,
    Desert Storm
