I refuse to be a manufactured man
But it’s hard not to become
What has become of the majority
With histories of humanity’s mistakes in my bloodstream,
I try to block out programmed nightmares
    Of growing up in poverty
Since that is where they expected me
I can feel their frustration in the air
I breathe it in the smog
I drink it in the water
I eat in it in the food
Anything that their hands have touched
I trust my prayers are strong enough
So the trees can carry them as they grow to heaven’s gate
Reaching God’s hands before their trunks are cut down
Or maybe the breeze can blow around my hopes and dreams
Before they work Earth to the bone
Before it will look like the core of an apple
Where we’ll have to plant a new world with the leftover seeds
I can breathe their frustration in the air
    In the education I receive
    In the generations I’ll conceive
In the police force that promises to protect me
In long lines where time spills you
Until it’s your turn to hear, Sir, there’s nothing I can do to help you
    But my grandmother is crying
Left to lay dying at home
With medicines made by the high-paid ones
But this healing was prescribed to the low waged- scum
So cures don’t come to us as fast
I think they are frustrated that my engine
Doesn’t run off of expensive gas
Or because they couldn’t market my passion for a profit
    They couldn’t industrialize my culture
Or materialize my faith in God
    They couldn’t clone my aspirations
And couldn’t murder my inspiration for poetry
They couldn’t control me with double A batteries
Ran out of electricity for this type of free spirit
As I write free lyrics for Free-Dom
See I was made with love through a King-Dom
And I think they are mad that
    They couldn’t poison my Wisdom
So they poison my air, my food, my water and my race
Displace my revenue with overdue statements
Where I should’ve paid my soul a long time ago
But I keep going, to show that I can’t be manufactured
By the standards of beasts in political clothing
I checked the tag on the back of my collar
And it said Not Made In America
    Not Made Of This World
So I live by bigger expectations
    Bigger blessings and bigger solutions
    That humans can’t see yet
But I can feel a change in the air
I drink it in the water
And I eat it in the food
I keep going for the love of children
For the love of men and women
For the love of my past
And for the love of our future
You only get what you give away
And they take everything that we give away
But I know something we can give that they don’t want
Something that will have to be returned one day
    And it’s called Love
    So give it
