    Man In The House

    The old man was wise

    but
    his most lucid
    conversations
    always came
    from a bottle inside a
    brown paper bag

    and he could expound
    on the mysteries
    of the universe

    and he held the
    key that unlocked
    the doors to
    all understanding

    he taught his 3 sons
    between sips
    to love their
    black women

    as well they should

    as many as they could

    cuz black love is good

    one day
    he said

    "a woman is like a house
    with many, many rooms;

    and boys, no matter how long
    you live there,

    you will never see
    what lies behind every door"
    ~~~~~~~~
    one son died from heart
    failure ~ such a shame,
    at 34
    one son took up drinking
    never bothering
    to explore
    for 20 plus years
    one
    still
    moves
    Alyce, such skill ... telling whole stories
    in few words ... leaving the reader ... me
    wondering ... questioning ... wanting part II
    makes me remember another story you told ...
    about the "crazy" man in the welfare office
    and the social worker calming him ... putting
    something in his hand ... calming him ...
    you never did tell me what that was ...
    :heart:
    Excellent story, the old man and the bottle kinda reminds me of a dentist visit where i distinctly remember discovering the meaning of life. I just cant remember what it was when the gas wore off.
