    I’ve been drifting through life
    Feeling desperate and lonely hearted
    Trying to figure out
Exactly when the pain got started
    It relates to the time
When mama and daddy first parted
And I was left to myself
    Feeling lost and retarded

I was conceived in the soul
    Of a broken hearted mother
She and i on the grind
    No sister no brother
    Wanting more out of life
Than this place in the gutter
    Never did have much
    But we had each other
    Daddy never really cared
Never showed that he loved us
    So my soul grew cold
A lil child with no cover

A broken home and broken heart
    Left me hurt and puzzled
Stuck in a young man grind
    With a grown man struggle
    Enduring trial after trial
    With my mind and muscle
Idles hands don’t make a man
They only get you in trouble
I smile once in a while
    But tears fall in doubles
    Somebody please take my hand
Before I drown in this puddle
    Of my own tears
    ……………From the years
    I’ve needed to be cuddled

    My daddy never figured
He should be a father figure
    Now mama’s stuck w/ a child
    And a slick street Nig*a
The nig*a was a rolling stone
    now I’m a stumbling pebble
    And now mama’s lil angel
    being stalked by the devil
her love tried to keep my home
But I came up as a rebel
    Grown man at age 10
A heathen to the 3rd level

    Now she’s up in heaven
And since the age of eleven
    I’ve tried to hide
Never dealing w/ the questions inside
    I was addicted to pride
And fine with living a lie
    Didn’t bother to try harder
    Hell I didn’t even try
    mama was gone
    no longer home
    and i couldn't say bye
    At age eight she died
When I was nine I cried
By age 10 my next to kin
    Was the question of WHY

    now a days i'm okay
i'm trying to learn how to pray
i ask God to help me through
    especially on mother's day
    my pen's my closest friend
my pad is like my dad
it couldn't teach me how to catch
    but it showed me
    how to be glad
i gave it everything within me
and now it gives me all that it has
