Malcolm X Suggests Cure To Racism In Newly-Discovered Handwritten Letter

The letter is on sale for $1.25 million

A recently-discovered letter reportedly handwritten by Malcolm X in 1964 describes racism at that time as an "incurable cancer" that was "plaguing" America.

Los Angeles historic manuscript and letter dealer, Moments in Time, retrieved the six-page letter, reportedly written by the civil rights activist. It went on sale Sunday for $1.25 million.

Gary Zimet, president and owner of Moments in Time, received the letter from a contact who discovered it in a storage locker in the Bronx, New York. Zimet has decided to keep the person's name anonymous ...

"However this letter surfaced, it surfaced at the right time."

Thanks for sharing this. I could just envision him speaking those words. I just loved Malcolm X. I love the manner in which it is written. I could only fantasize about how different things may have been with a Malcom around or those that embodied his spirit and drive.

Malcolm X’s 1964 Letter on Sale for $1.25 Million After Nearly Ending Up in the Trash

... According to reports, the six-page long letter which was written in 1964 was penned on stationery that had Arabic writing and illustrations of historic sites on it. Malcolm X is thought to have written the letter after his much-publicized pilgrimage to Mecca.

Gary Zimet, the seller of the letter, said, “It was discovered in a storage locker and almost thrown out. Only because the owner saw some Derek Jeter and Alex Rodriguez autographs was it saved” ...
