As it is widely known, whites in the United States make up a large majority of the people who consume mainstream rap music, that is rap that is made for specifically for widespread dissemination, rap for the masses. I have noted that, in my life at least, white people listen to this music as and, though they thoroughly enjoy it, see it as a type of joke, calling it "N***** Music" etc. This draws up a lot of parallels with the an antiquated form of entertainment called the "minstrel show," in which white people in black face (and often times black people wearing black face) dance and sing in ways which mock and stereotype the black community and culture for white audiences to laugh at.

Do you think that mainstream rap acts in this way, as a modern day incarnation of the minstrel show?

:hello: noice ... thanks for joining us and sharing.

Given our history ... any thing black people do could be twisted into ... seen as ... a "minstrel act"

Even the POTUS can be likened to a minstrel act, and is by some.

I think there are some good things about mainstream rap ... and would not liken it to a minstrel act.

Those are hardworking, talented young people, making a living for themselves ... that many wish they could do.

    That's my opinion.

    Much Love and Peace.

Until we're able to sustain our own abilities thru support and respect ...every act that Blacks partake can be liken to a minstrel show, because the biggest supporters are white ...the color of green will always prevail ...which mainstream rap is seeing a lot of it...

To me this music video and title says it all:

The audience is almost 100% White, but the title has the n-word.
