i could hear the band from outside
    the lyrical pride
    the sound of fingers snapping
    feet tapping and hand clapping
the "it's alright's" and "dayam that sounds tyte"
as the poet pours his soul into the mic
    the umms oohs and ahhs
right before the standing novation and applause
i looked over to the left
and there i saw a poster
    LYRIC CAFE every Saturday
    i approached a little closer
i could smell the poetry and incense in the air
as if i was already there
my feet began to walk to a faster pace
and my heart slowly began to race
till i was in front of the door of my saving grace
i opened the door and found my place
i attached my name to the open mic list
and recited a poem amost just like this
i was so nervous i didn't want to lose my flow
so i just freestyled till i heard the crowd say whoa
o.k. yall i don't have anything else to say
Except that's the story of my first time at the LYRIC CAFE

Well kaly, it sounds like you did really well at the Lyric Cafe.
I've been to two open mic thingys at Barnes & Nobles but they were boring. A girlfriend of mine, told methat poetry slams were more entertaining...I dunno know cuz we don't have that sort of thing where I live.

Keep the flows going...the mics are waiting for you.
