I saw a report this morning on the early morning show that comes on ABC (I’m not sure if it was Good Morning America or The Early Show). At any rate, the guy that was on the show spoke of a independent study of two groups of dieters; the low carb group and the low fat group. After six months, the low carb group lost more weight than the low fat group. However, at the twelve month point both groups had lost about the same amount of weight:
    Low-Carb group 11 – 19 pounds Low-Fat group 7 – 19 pounds.

Here is an article on the same subject.

    hey diakonos,

I really appreciate you posting this. I read it in the paper, and they left out that important last clause, about the weight loss being the same at the 12-month mark. Guess they ran out of space or somethin.

My point exactly. People need to understand that these fad diets give great short term results, but as time goes on they will level off in their weight loss. What it all comes down to is eating right (and/or less depending on what your goal is) and exercising.

Here is an article about this man who is sueing the promoters of the Atkins diets, because he said it nearly killed him.

Word up to that. I cannot wait for this low carb diet craze to pass. It is irritating the hell out of me.
