Who can withstand loving the Black man?
His struggle be like a King’s dream
    Black beautiful seems the plan
    Of Black panthers and X-men
Travel Black to deep southern plantations
Middle passages and African shore lands
    The essence of his soul
    Be the Black whole
    Where I am told
    Black Love be royal
    Where I am told
    His love for blackness
    Still exists
    The blackest knight
    The lightest son rises high
See past the struggle in his eyes
    The original Hue-man
    With his thick lips
    Wide nose
    Exposing
    His true heritage
    The motherland
Features in him still stands tall
    Makes all y’all stare
But it’s the sistahs you hear
    Be like
    Well, Got dayyyyyyum
You see that fine *** on that fine ***
    Bruthaman
    Gurl, you know that ***** ain’t sssshhhhh…..
    But the game he spit
    Make you dream about licking
    His chocolate dipped
Even if he be all wrong
His caramel loving be right on
    Copper tone
    Or Black as midnight blue
    An onxy stone
    Smooth thinking
Black love looks just like you
    In honey tone
    He be sho’nuff sweet
    Maybe just a sugar daddy
I be simply waiting to get paid
    With shades of Melanin
    Upon his skin
But some bruthamen just be pretend
Some say they want what reals
It’s a shame the truth is
The game become their playing field
    Questioning…
Who can withstand loving the Black man?
Whose father and whose fore fathers
    Legacy
    Be cargo ships
    Cotton picks
    Labored hard
    On shipyards
    Endured lynch mobs
    Who robbed and raped
    In his face
    Displaced from His story
    Stolen glory
    Enslaving his life
A price that sometimes cost him
    His last breath
    To protect what was left
    Of loving you
    Of loving me
    Black family
    Who can only be
    As strong as
    The Brethren
    Who is my brothaman
    My lover and
    My uncle and
    My father and
    My nephew and
    My son still to come
    Rising up
    From the dust
    Trusting ancestral spirits
From the African and the West Indian and the Jamaican and
    The retro-plantation negro colored Black
    Make me wanna holla
At that blue collar working hard for Uncle Sam
    Still building this nation
From the exploitations of way back whens
You wonder where the anger stems
Who can withstand loving the Black man?
    The chosen ones
    Of the creators gifts
    Composers of arithmetic
Which has shaped all known economics
    The wise men
    Who charted the stars
    Before anyone knew how far
We all are from the heavens
    The elder tribes men
    Whose drum and spoken rhythmics
    Makes the sound of Blackness
You hear in music world wide
    Who can deny
    That even the brothaman
    Who stands on corners
    Makes all gaze with amazement
    That soul spirits meant
    For them to understand
    It’s the natural plan
For them, to do what they do
For a crew who stands together
    Ain’t nothing but a tribe
A gansta’ is just a warrior
Who takes pride in his stride
    Protecting his mother-fellow neighbor- hood-land
Ain’t scared to die for the very thing he believes in
    Not to glorify or deny
The no good things being sold
    But I am told
    That Black men are dying
    Not only in the streets
Over sales of crack and weed
    But diamonds and gold
    Land and greed
Of those that can’t stand to see
A Blackman have the things he needs
To feed and grow his family
    Regain his throne rights
A kingdom he ain’t gotta fight to keep
Who can withstand loving the Black man
His struggle be like a King’s dream
    Black beautiful seems the plan
    Of Black panthers and X-men
Travel Black to deep southern plantations
Middle passages and African shore lands
    The essence of his soul
    Be the Black whole
    Where I am told
    Black Love be royal
    Where I am told
    His love for blackness
    Still exists
    The blackest knight
    The lightest son rises high
See past the struggle in his eyes
    With his thick lips
    Wide nose
    Exposing
    His true heritage
    His nappy crown
    Makes him King for real
    The motherland
    Features in him still stands
    The original Hue-man
    Can you withstand loving me?
    It is Black I
    ‘Til the day I die
    Who will withstand loving you
    It is Black I
    Who will withstand
All that you have done and this be true
    Black man
    It is Black I
Can’t you see me loving you?
    Understand
    I don’t think you do…..
