I’ve listened to you countless times,
Ears and eyes wide open while you
Told me lies of love’s dream
Prancing around in Prada panties,
Well past midnight
Drinking wine and smoking funny cigarettes,
Waiting like a fool
And still I forgave you the next day
When you told me thoughtless lies
I justified the unjust
Because I just wanted a man

I’m not stupid, silly, shameful, uneducated
Maybe self depreciated,
But you played me like I was all of the above
I sat up listening to old dusty albums, eating stale popcorn
Thinking about the first time every I saw your face
And realize that it wasn’t really you
But me denying myself true love,
Because I didn’t want to wait
For the “right” person to come along
Because I’ve given up on the right person,
So now I’m here with you
As unhappy memories flooding my brain
Placing track marks on my heart
Driving me insane
Making my soul hard for the next person,
As you glide through my self esteem with ease
Leaving me lifeless
With no ambition for loves dream
