Trying to assess, define, explain
this thing called love
So difficult to explain the unexplainable
to reach that which is unobtainable
to touch in words alone, and yet
it is this time of year we get
the gumption, to try
and so shall I
It's that feeling where pins and needles
and butterflies take refuge in one body part
or another. Or perhaps it's thinking that we're
quite capable of feeling faint, but not faint of heart.
Yet our hearts are fragile, and emotions that we took for
granted as having a handle on, are now out of hand.
So much we'd sacrifice just to make this person happy, although
just being in their presence makes us happy, ain't love grand?
What more than likely started out as a friendship now
yearns to be more. No longer will a peck on the cheek
do. Now we long for that soulful, long, lingering kiss,
leading to a bliss of eternity we prayerfully seek.
And speaking of prayer, is this special someone indeed
our Godsend? That complementary mate sent from above
somehow. The yen to our yang, calling out to us like
a moth to a flame, the passionate side of this...love.
Similar tastes yes, but not the same, perfect in all their
little quirky imperfections. Wanting to wring their necks
and hug them at the same time, and laughing at the
realization of this, this love, being so complex.
The intricate feeling of being with someone even when the
miles keep your bodies apart. It's amazing at what distances
can and cannot do, for if the love is true it can withstand
the many miles that come between smiles and instances
of frenzied gratification of the flesh. But don't get me wrong,
that physical passion pulsating through two souls that entwine,
that making love....With the right person, it is the stuff that can
illuminate every star in the sky. Just thinking of this, as we dine
on this virtual feast of feelings
of explanations
of definitions
of assessments
Trying to explain the unexplainable
grasping at that unobtainable
definition of
LOVE
