Allah almighty ordered us to pray in night (the last third period of night) as it is considered to be the most important kind of worshiping Allah the only creator, what is the new about the importance of waking up in the night? ...

Allah says in the holly Qur'an about this life: "O my people! Truly, this life of the world is nothing but a (quick passing) enjoyment, and verily, the Hereafter that is the home that will remain forever. "[Sûrat Ghâfir (The Forgiving) - verse 39]. So, every work for not the sake of Allah is indeed worth nothing in the day of resurrection when no work will benefit human except done works for the sake of Allah. One of the great works in Islam is the prayer in night because the believer don't sleep a lot of time as he or she is concerning about the hereafter and the day when he or she will stand in frontof Allah the creator.

But couple of years ago some studies had been published to confirm that sleeping for a long time is good and can be a reason for a long life. Here, some kind of contradiction did occur between science and Qur'an. How can we understand the science facts while Allah orders us a reverse order to that science?

Always, we have to understand a golden rule that the Qur'an is always right even there is a contradiction between science and Qur'an because one day the rightness of the Qur'an will be clear to all people.

That calls us to claim that this scientific fact is wrong, and that what exactly happened! The new studies had confirmed that sleeping many hours may limit the life of people. According to the latest researches some American researchers did confirm that women who sleeps many hours are exposed to cardiovasculardiseases more than others who don't sleep that much. Also another research did confirm that waking up in night Prolong life.

According to stoke medical magazine, the researchers found that there is a high probability for infecting by Ischemic Stroke which is up to 70% between women who sleeps nine hours or more in the night.

The study was done on about 93000 women between 50 and 79 years and after seven years of researching, the researchers found that 1166 of them was subject to Ischemic Stroke which prevents the oxygen from the brain which leads to death.

Also they found that the probability of infecting by that stroke is 14% in the women who sleeps 6 hours or less and it's 24% in women who sleeps 8 hours or more and 70% in women who sleeps 9 hours.

A photo for an ill heart as doctors say that long sleep helps in the disorder of heart's muscle and there are many studies which links between the long sleep and the sudden death, also the researchers believe that waking up for half an hour at night is very useful to activate the heart and feeds it with oxygen because heart and brain may be affected by a deficit in oxygen so human may die because of that, so they advise people to wake up for a little time at night to activate brain and heart

Here we only say, glory to Allah! Isn't an Islamic order which was mentioned by the prophet 1400 years ago!!! The prophet was a perfect guide for Muslim as he used to wake up at night to pray to Allah. Today, doctors and researchers advise us to follow these activities. What a great religion.

But the difference between what they do and what we do is that they do it for this life but we Muslims do it for Allah.

So, my brothers and sisters you have to follow the guidance of our prophet as it is a great worship to Allah almighty as the prophet peace be upon him told us that a one prayer at the end of the night is better than the whole world.

At the end I want to add my personal experience as I used for the last 15 years to be awake till the "Fajr" to understand the Qur'an and to figure out its meanings and I found that this increases my creation and happiness.Glory to Allah as He almighty gives me my provision from where I don't expect because I believe in what Allah almighty tells us in the Qur'an: (And whosoever fears Allah and keeps his duty to Him, He will make a way for him to get out (from every difficulty * And He will provide him from (sources) he never could imagine)
[Sûrat At-Talâq (The Divorce) verse 2-3].

So, don't worry for anything and don't say if I pray at night how can I get my provision because He almighty promised us to deliver the livelihood of all creatures even the ant as He Almighty says: (And no (moving) living creature is there on earth but its provision is due from Allah. And He knows its dwelling place and its deposit (in the uterous, grave, etc.). All is in a Clear Book (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz - the Book of Decrees with Allah) [Sûrat Hûd (Prophet) Hûd-verse 6]

    Peace macoo..

why would the confirmation through the devices of non-believers be a cause for elation among the true believers? It could be said that the search for confirmation is tantamount to doubting Allah's word. Science is also a religion... and as with all religions, Faith is a fundamental requirement.. your trust and believe in the methods and results of the scientific study confirms your belief in the religion of science.. a religion which, like Islam and Christianity, claims to be the only truth.. and labels all others as mysticism or blasphemies. So, how can you believe in Science and Islam at the same time when Science and Islam are mutually opposed to one another?

Should be in the Islamic-Arabic forum not science and technology. False advertising.

Science is not a religion as it is auto-correcting in light of new evidence. Religions are dogmas (except for maybe Buddhism which is more or less a philosophy than a religion). Any change in the dogma causes the religion to branch off from the mainstream teachings.

How much did you pay? and what did you lose?

it may be somewhat out of place but it seems to me that a discussion of Science and Islam belongs in either the Science forum or the Islam forum.. and since the person presenting the information is from the Islam side of things and wishes to engage those on the Science side, it makes sense that the discussion would at least begin in the Science section.. and after it begins to form.. the moderators would decide where to store it. Not a big deal in any sense.

Great idea to mix religions with mainstream science. I come here to read about science and technology not some superstitious nonsense.

Faith is a fundamental element of science. Science has as much mystery and mythology as religion. And your open antagonism over this man presenting his opinion in this forum reeks of the same type of fanaticism that drives very many religious people. This man simply presented some information that both modern science and Islam agree. What's wrong with that? I engaged him on a point that highlights his comparison as an implicit belief in the results of Science.. of course I don't know this person or the nature of his/her belief.. he may be a scientist for all I know.. but through this conversation I may learn more about his beliefs and so on.. that's why we come together here.. in case you didn't know.

The Spirit is as real as the Atom. Your not being able to see that or understand that does not make it untrue. There's nothing wrong with a persons words being wrapped in the faith through which they live their lives and conceive reality.. It's the same thing you do with through your secular religion that you call Science. Their was a time and place where the Science of the Earth and Science of the Spirit were inextricably bound. If you take a look at how they became separate, you might start to understand why... or not.

The above is pretty much why no religion will ever provide the progress the sciences or the classical liberal arts have provided.

How come no link to something that resembles a news article or story?
    http://abcnews.go.com/Health/Healthday/story?id=5398200&page=1

Abstract In Question (Note how they're so specific and careful about their claims):
    http://stroke.ahajournals.org/content/39/12/3185.abstract?sid=ed254609-43a9-484d-aebe-27da70375e7a

In the abstract alone, the others hint that there's a "U-Shaped" relationship between sleep and mortality. People have known for a while now that either too much or two little sleep can have serious health consequences. The medical community has been adequately warning about both and the importance of going over your sleeping habits with your medical professional especially when there are sudden changes. There's a growing body of research shaping our understanding of what disrupt sleeps, what those short-term, and long-term consequences are and addressing them has required nothing supernatural.

If you can remove something that's been declared necessary and still see the same results, then what you removed was not associated with the outcome in anyway. Couldn't we have replaced Islam in the claim above (which is already shaky) with any culture or religion that also has night or early morning rituals? Could we then say the following:

What happens with long settled issues that aren't in favor of religions and will not be changing anytime soon? Where's the self-correction? Where's the progress?

Even though it was hypothetical, there's a group of scientific fields that study cultural convergences when trying to solve problems everyone has to deal with, adapting to similar conditions, while using pretty much the same brains furnished to members of our species.

Science needs no faith. It only starts with the idea that maybe something in whole or in part can eventually be understood, and goes through a robust, observation based, and self-corrective approach to try to accomplish that goal. It requires no faith because anyone can practice it, anyone can verify or disprove previous understandings or claims, and anyone can practice it with or without religious belief and still get the same results (a bit of an oversimplification but the main idea is important).
