    Sometimes, I pray

I pray even though I am barely a Christian
Just because sometimes I need someone to listen
    Then guilt surrounds me
While my "Amen" still resonated around me
Since my prayers are so few and far between
What makes me think I should expect for Him to listen to me?
So my religon is gonna stay on the run
    Until kingdom comes
Then I'll drop to my knees
    Along with those around me
    And cry out in agony
    "Please! Stay me!"
Because although every Sunday I am a constant resident
At a pew, listening to words meant to straighted the hell-bent,
I fall short on my religious regiment
    Scrambling though the convoluted alphabet
    From G to R
But I would be like a wise man without a star
    Lost
Ask me to name the protagonists of the novel
    The concept would be novel
Because I'll mention the Virgin Mary and freeze while the kid next to me
Far surpasses me like its elementary

O ye of little faith, why hast thou foresaken me?
    You must have mistaken me
    For an ilde god
    Or an idol god
    Made of gold
    Forget the hardships of old
And join those in the land of milk and honey
    And praise my name
As He speakes to me, I bow my head in shame
Because although I rarely speak His name
    Unless in vain
He still loves His child one and the same

So maybe in the days forthcoming, I'll be reborn
Bear my cross and wear my crown of thorns
Maybe I'll become a biblical genius
Rise from the ash like a phoenix
Like the Pheonix once told me
I just need somebody to pray for me
The day might be close or further than it seems
But until it comes I'll just pray in my dreams
Then I can blame my subconscience
For what I think when I'm conscience
Here, as I stand, I'm barely a Christian
Quite frankly, I'm losing my religon
