she wore a scar that she called
    a smile /

every now and then it gets
picked and the pain starts to ooze

dragging her happiness in a crooked
path to the edge of the world
to jump off and just fall

    searching for a bottom...

she wore a scar that she called a smile
because life was kicking her ***/
bad decisions were kicking her ***/
that no good "brother who loves her" was
    kicking her ***/

...and she keeps falling maybe when she
    hits she'll find herself.

and he said he loved her
expressing every ounce of it in his fists
    that split her lip...

    ...that once kissed her children
    that once spoke melodies
    that once sang harmonies...
    that now remain pursed
as she lay in the casket / a dissatified look
that life gave up on her...

    ...
    ...
    ...
    ...
    ...
