...just curious, you know anything about Erinle?...Aja?...
...Aja is a very obscure Orisha. If the question is referring to Aja, I know Aja as the female companion to Aroni. Aroni is the Slave of Esu Aroni who is connected to Osanyin. In my book ( that is not published yet ) I also have the further association in the narrative that connects Osanyin directly as an aspect of Shango.
...I depict the sacred tree in the natural Igbodu ( the forest ) Shango is identified with Red Wood, Maple, Cherry, Mahoghany, Poplar, Cedar and Ebony woods. Since a big tree is where people are said to leave wishes and blessings the tree becomes a place associated with the divinity of herbs and medicines.
... Shango is the master of medicines. Osanyin is the deity of the forests, medicine and herbs.
they have a strong connection. Shango is the mortal enemy of Ogun the God of Iron. Ogun is one of the Ibora with Ochossi the archer and Eshu Elegba(ra) lord of the crossroads. The Ibora are Warrior / Hunters. Shango has his connection to that group through Osanyin who is the forest - the refuge of hunters and warriors and where Ogun keeps his Forge. Erinle is also strong in that group. There is an aspect of his energy called Erinle Aja...the fierce one. Erinle spends part of his life in the forests and part in the water. Orisha Oko is still another strong connection. Orisha Oko can be the harvest and also has the association with the forests and trees. in the collections of Yale University Department of African Studies, there are old carvings of the deities. There are also staffs and implements that show the connection of Orisha Oko, Osanyin and Erinle...whether they were aspects of each other or regional entities?...only a few here in America who can talk on that. I am not one of them.
