Looking down the barrel of the gun
    Memories flood my mind
    Happier days
    Yesteryears
    When things were simpler

But now as I look down the barrel of the gun
I think about the pain I’ve endured
While trying to smile on the outside
    Yet crying on the inside
    The Love of the Lord
    So far from me
While I’m looking down the barrel of the gun

    Feeling like brotha Elijah
    In Biblical times
    After accomplishing great feats
Ran scared when Jezebel sought his life
    Sitting under a juniper tree
    Begging God to take him
Looking down the barrel of the gun

    Families undependable
    Friends false
    Hope lost
    Voices in my head
    Telling me
    Escape is possible
Looking down the barrel of the gun

    9mm single shot
    cold steel
    black and ominous
    yet somehow sleek and seductive
    filling me with power
    my newfound lover
looking down the barrel of the gun

    no more pain
    just release
from this mortal coil of existence
as I transcend above the disappointments of life
looking down the barrel of the gun

    closing my eyes
    opening my mind
to the fact that this is the only way
    best for all
    if I fall
I look down the barrel of the gun
    And pull the trig…..
