she don't read much uh anything
    and on her block
    all she does is think
    ...and write

she don't read much uh nuthin'
    no newspapers
    magazines
    or no kinko copied flyers
    that get passed around
    her community when some
    black chile don went and
    got lost

but she does know how to write
    ...she just write and write
    she write
'bout whats goin' on- on her block
the block dat she lives on
and the block dats n 'tween
    her shoulders

    she's seen lots uh stuff
like dem boys who be shootn'
    tat eachn' otha
    ...and
    dem mammies dat be
    fightn' they husbandmans
    cause dey don found em
    wit otha young chippys
    ...and
she hears dem cars a crashn'
after da street lights come on
    causin' some young mens
    was drinkn' ana drivn'
    when dey shouldn'ta been
    ...and
she listend' to dat white girls
    mixed baby cryin' through
    da black Glad garbage bag
    dat her momma don' tossd'
    out like yessadays leffova's
    ...and
    she knows peoples ain't
    wrapped to tight
    --
    dey probly
    neva will be ...
    --
    she don't haffin
    to read anything to know
    that things round her
    way been dis way
    for years n' years
    and dat dey may neva
    change

    sure -- she don't read
    much uh nuthin'
    no newspapers
    magazines
    or no kinko copied flyers
    passed round in her
    community

    but you can best believe
    she'll keep thinkin'
    ana wondr'n
    just what tomorrow's
    gon bring

    on her block
    she writes...and writes
    and she's sure gon'
keep a writin' bout what she
    knows been goin' on
from da past and on into da futures
    future

You have written many, many beautiful, insightful pieces. But, this piece write here captivates me like no other. I don't know why, maybe because I've seen this girl or seen what she's seen. N2 if there were ever a poet it would be you. no doubt.

    "10 times infinity"

    "priceless"

    blak

p.s. seriously, you have me rethinking my talent. (that wasn't supposed to happen :) )

    My Blak "ACTION MAN"

    Verb...

You are truly too kind... if it were not for you and your words of encouragement, I would not even be writing... and if it weren't for our conversations about poetry I would not continue to write... You are truly a "muse" for me...and so, I shall write on!!

Peace, love, and may God always continue to bless!

see...i'm not going to flow...this time.:)

when you have so much going on around you...sometimes, you don't have time to read...have no need to read...can't find the courage to read about the other BAD stuff that you may have missed. THE RIVER'S CURRENT IS STRONG.

    keep droppin'em
