Black Poetry : lil' bit o venting

the flow is so many things to me
at least it used to be
thought it would be just about
the poetry
and the life reflected
never thought it'd be truth neglected
or perceptions redirected
and now I ain't got the urge to
chase down every lie
nor to re-apply and re-apply
truthful words
that once spit they resemble
pretzels in the hands of haters
now I can do no right
in their sight
but that's alright
it's just more drama to me
I got enough wit' dealin' in reality
they tellin' me gramps is in his last days
so I relentlessly endlessly pray
it ain't no joke so I don't bother to say
out loud how now he may pass away
caught up in the spray
of words untrue
just another brotha to undo
ain't no fear here
ain't nothing to hide
don't hold ya breath
thinkin' I'll learn to love a game or a lie
exactly what do they want from me
if they don't show and proove
what am I s'posed to see
everybody got a right to
the picture they paint
but I lived long enough
to know what love ain't
I won't sell my soul
or give up self-control
to some trick wit an axe to grind
when love could be so simple
that's not what's on they mind
time and time
I could bust they groove
but all I'm tryin' to do is just bus' a move
yeah, the flow used to be the lick
now I don't know what I'm s'posed to make of this ish

Dear Skrybe pure in spirit and full of truth!

My Daddy a Baptist minister used to tell me "Baby girl ever want to know if you doing something right?" "Look at all the people who will oppose you!"...Well to paraphrase him, you know the ones who talking ****...ain't got **** going on ! So you do what you do for the Glory and wonder of your uniqueness and beautiful soul. For your elder remember "Absent in the body and present with the Lord". Blessed be the name of the Lord! I will pray your strength, but you are going to be alright, I know you are, cause you are to...Blessed to "stay" stressed! Grieve all you need to and scribe like you want to we will be right here...as for the rest of those who 'Hate unabashedly' ...well lets just "Pray a prayer of David for them"...I 'll tell you what that means in private.

and for that, I can't thank you enough!
He's 82 but he could live to be 102 leave
it up to me. But you are right in that there
is a better place for him with the Lord.
