"Liberty Miss Liberty"

Rising in the harbor of America so great
Built on a platform of apartheid and hate

Standing for justice so straight, so tall
Justice for some, not justice for all

Using the wretched refuse of your teaming shore
Prospering from the labor of your tired and poor

Balancing on the shoulders of so many slaves
Sending human cargo to painful early graves

Huddled masses yearning to breathe free
Tasting the bitter bark of the lynching tree

The chains of oppression you promised to break
You slipped around the ankles of the slaves you make

You raped my daughters, my wife you abused
My sons you hung by the neck confused

Stripped me of my God and changed the good book
You altered my name, my pride you took

Huddled masses yearning to breathe free
Guess that line didn’t apply to me

Yet still Miss Liberty, I believe in you
And pray one day you’ll believe in me too…

Poet...

I am speechless with mixed feelings...

some of pride, in the strength and boldness of your words...

and some of pain, in the memories of crimes against my people...

You are a remarkable creative writer, for this goes beyond poetry...truly

Much love to you poet for this wonderful work, We are blessed to have
