Black Poetry : lets go waaaaaayyyyyyyback!!!!!!

yeah and how we played in the fire hydrant
and jonny come acorss played on the monkey bars
ummmm ummmm !! catch a girl kiss a girl was fun
watching speed racer and atom ant when we sail
with sinbad the sailor and late friday night watch
ceature feature ! the screams in the room eyes bucked
o'how i love the gospel hour all the singing and praise
those was the good ole dayz , at house parties dancing
lights off yeah remember the slowpok and the blackcow
the candy yummy we was proud how bout those long boys
and nutchews wooooooweeeeee penny candy what a treat
most off all i remember those spanking momma gave
and how we hit our knees at night to pray !
lay me down to sleep , i pray to lord my soul to keep ,
these words i still teach i remeber well the stack shoes
bellbottom slacks big afro's saying (right on!)
watching the black panther party move for rights
as Dr.King made a speech those days was unique
growing up on the city streets we played without fear
so much laughter never a tear ...
wayyyyyyyyyyyyyy backkkkkkkkkkkkkkk!! den marbles
was the game gurls jump rope all the same before going in
we play last tag
so i tap u and say u it .....last tag
your turn to continue da way back days of yesteryears

Back when you got up early on Saturday to watch cartoons
And the only thing you had to worry about was keeping your room clean
When your curfew was the same time as the streetlights came on
Spending your whole allowance on candy
Eating it till you were sick
Hide and seek, freeze tag, and four square was part of the day’s itinerary
Before SAT’s and full time jobs
When you could watch tv all day long
Fraggle Rock, Scooby Doo,
Transformers, Zoobilee Zoo,
When you could tell anybody how to get to Sesame Street
And G.I. Joe had you tryin to figure out what the other half of the battle was
Wayyyyyyy before you really had any real responsibilities
Other than looking out for your little brother or sister
When Michael Jackson still looked like Michael Jackson
You climbed trees without the thought of ruining your clothes
And your hair held so many bows that you could hardly hold your head up
When you’d eat a mud pie with out a second thought
Your British Knights were worn with more than one pair of slouch socks
And it took you two months to get your Members Only jacket
Are those Bugle Boy jeans you were wearing
Your first kiss that would ignite feelings that you had never felt before
Back when love was pure
And friendships were too
New Edition concerts
When Vanilla Ice still thought he was still cool
And don’t try and act like you didn’t rock those MC Hammer pants
Tellin your friends you were Too Legit to Quit
A time when life was so easy
But you were in too much of a rush to grow to be able to enjoy them
The days that are now just fading memories
Days that I will always cherish
