On Monday, as the conference began wrapping up, a panel debated how sports can unite and divide people and sometimes lead to badly need discussions of race. The speakers –including NBA legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and ex-Dallas Cowboys star Michael Irvin – discussed sports’ racial history from the 1936 Berlin Olympics to the recent Donald Sterling scandal.
