    Sona Jobarteh is a multi-instrumentalist, music producer and film composer. She is the first female kora virtuoso to come from the West African Jobarteh griot family. As a performer and teacher of the kora, she maintains the repertoire and history of the traditions. She has recently completed the score for the multi-award winning film Motherland. Her new album FASIYA is due out later this year.

    Sona composed the film music composer for the multi-award winning film 'Motherland' , directed by filmmaker Owen 'Alik Shahadah. Sona completed her debut album entitled Afro Acoustic Soul in 2008. Her next album FASIYA, due out later this year, takes her musical expertise to a completely new level. Drawing on her unique heritage and bringing in a selection of top-class West African musicians such as Juldeh Camara, Sankung Jobarteh, Baba Gallé Kante, Babacar Dieng, Femi Temowo, Surahata Susso.
