"Santiago Pozo is a man with a mission. He is also a man living his own version of the American dream. When he arrived in LA from Spain he had a few dollars in his pocket and an idea in his head: to create a Spanish-language film studio to rival the English-language dominance of Hollywood. And where better to do it than in Hollywood."

"Nicotina represents the first time that a Latin distributor in the US is releasing a new Mexican film on 120 screens, a figure that will probably rise to 500," said Pozo. "And that means that for the first time we're not dependent on an Anglo-Saxon company accepting or not accepting the film in order to be able to show it in the US."

Why Can't We, Black Folk, Do the Same or Better?

When Sammy Davis, Jr. was alive in an interview he said that several times he tried to get black folk in Hollywood to get together and form a black film production studio but to no avail. Well after all these years of black folk in Hollywood making mega bucks, here is a latino studio that is doing what we black folk seem to be impossible to do. With all the black entertainers in Hollywood and sports entertainers, like Oprah, Bill Cosby, Michael Jordan, Michael Jackson, etc., etc., etc. we have NO EXCUSE for NOT pooling some of that MONEY and building a production company that SERVES the NEEDS of the black nation of America. No excuse.
