I awoke to a smile
as the sun warmed
my face and the kids
rushed off to school;

the scent of sycamore
covered my room as I
watch the miniscule dust
dance in the rays of sun;

I lay a little bit longer
For I think about today
And I wonder if I will
See all its joy and trials;

I attempt to rise from my
Rest only to find the weight
Of love embracing me close
Preventing my movement;

There’s no fight in me today
For although my mind speaks
Of work, my heart speaks of
Loving the one next tome;

I slowly return to my rested
Post and pull her arm around
Me closer so that I can feel her
Mold into the form of my back;

I feel her smile through the sounds
Of moans as we hold closer until
The buzzing of the alarm reminds
Me it is timed to start my day;

She releases a slight moan of
Sadness when I lift her arm from
across me and I rise to prepare
my clothes to start the day;

I look at her as the sun shines
Over her frame to leave a shadow
Of beauty covered by the faint
Layer of the white satin sheet;

And as she looks up to me I
Smile, drop all that I carry
and return to her to kiss
her quietly on her brow;

she wraps her arm around my waist
keeping her eyes close as she smiles
from my kiss and quietly says to me,
“will you stay for a few more minutes”

Late for work again…
