Don't bring a bunch of flowers that I can't even smell.
And please don't read a lot of flowery poems that don't
begin to tell...the full range of the person who is now
departed. Let's get it straight before we get started.
I want New Orlean's Jazz and Praise dancers.
Ushering me into the next life. I don't want sad songs
dragging emotions from my loved ones after I am gone.
I want celebration and bright colored dresses, no big
hats but free flowing tresses. If you want to give me anything
give me your voice and lift it to sing!
She's free at last , free at last , thank God Almighty she's free
    at last.

I understand the old traditon, but don't put me in that antiquated position, with my hands crossed across my chest and laid to rest.
Place instead my favorite book of poetry with me and anything else that is precious to me, a picture of the people I love, the feather I found that I thought belonged to a dove. Honor me not with the sermon that never ends. I want you to be considerate for my grief stricken friends. Blow the trumpet and beat the drum, my journey home has long begun. Mourn not for me...cause that body in the casket is not even me. All my life from the day I was born, til the day I was gone...I always knew this world was not my home.

So seal me in your heart and there I live forever. And lets have a party no matter what the weather. Some may find it peculiar, for my repast won't be at the church, hate to leave you Sister's in a lurch. I already know just how it should be done. Light hearted and frivolous and filled with fun. I want the children to laugh and run. I want my family and friends who I know loved me their best
    to
    HONOR
    MY
    LAST
    REQUEST!

This poem is so rare and true
it shows the faith in the one you knew (I know you are not gone yet but it rimed with true (lol) )
and with most of this I do agree
but for me when I dye just
drop me low and let me be
because the body you see in no longer me

    I really liked this

    Thanks for reading!

I appreciate you taking the time to read and respond.
It was something pressing on me that made me want
to say this in writing. I have often expressed it to my family much to their dismay. We are from three generations of Baptist ministers, so MY LAST REQUEST...is something very different.
But, it's at the lawyer's and my son knows what I want done.
yeah...you feel me! This world is not my home I am just passing through!
    BLESSINGS ON YA HOUSE!
