    i wonder.....

why isn't chris blown up like some of our more "popular" artists are?
i wonder is it by his choice or is it the industry?

    Hi Brother James:

    missed ya!!

    I think it's both.....

Once u join the mainstream u give the record label executives the ability to change ur words...

like someone tryin to take one of ur beautiful pictures and changing the lighting, the effects and so forth....

    respectfully

    this is not true...

KRS ONE made a joint venture with Koch where he receives 4.50 per album... whereas most of the mainstream artist make 60 cent royalties... he doesn't have to sell as many albums because he has learned the business...

the track done with diddy isn't even titled.. and if u listen to it.. diddy sounds terrible...

    diddy is pop not hiphop

Kris makes songs with rappers or popsingers for a reason..

    respectfully

?? Not sure I follow you, I own that album. The song he did with Diddy is the remix to "step into a world". That was the only time I remember him getting mainstream play, one of I should say. I am not saying Kris tried to go pop,but he did a song with Diddy to sell records if you ask me, or if not to sell, to attract more fans to his base,or maybe just to get his message out to more people.Either way he worked with Diddy for a reason. Also the sound on that album is more pop than any of his other albums,as well as the song he did with Redman and that Puertorican female DJ (forgot her name). At that time Redman was moving units mainstream. He was going for air play imho .
That is not a knock, nothing wrong with Diddy, smart business man. According to Kris entrepreneurship is a part of hip hop. Personally I consider Diddy hip hop, just a different type, pop hop maybe?:?: lol But we can call Diddy pop,I get that.

    Peace

    peace

& peace to the God knowledge Reigns Supreme Over Nearly Everyone -

KRS is brilliant and one of the reallest to ever do it and still doin' it...no matter who does not like it, he is "hip hop".

"i ain't come here/to try and get no exposure/I am hip hop/i'm only here to bring you a little closer" - a line from a poem in his book "Ruminations" that he put out a few years ago that also came with a cd.

The god is not out to out sell anyone, his only mission is to give you knowledge as his name suggests. He does not even make videos, but is always on the underground scene and is one of the only "rappers" left that actually still Freestyles of the top of his head at a show which is the main thing a "rapper" must be able to do to even be considered an MC. with all the $$ being thrown at rappers these days to talk foolish, they have lost that element or love for the craft due to the dollars. This is also why a rappers career lasts only about 2 albums because how many times can you say/sell the same thing to the same fan base. Police officer 50cent is the rare exception because he has so many enemies that there is always someone talking about him which keeps "his name" in the air.

KRS is one the oldest/wisest still doing it the right way and most of these guys who put themselves on the top 5 dead or alive list are afraid to collab or even hop on stage with him......

ck out one of his songs called "THE MC"
