I'm watching a video now where the police department conducted a press conference afterward...
We don't have all the facts yet but something doesn't smell right about the police version of this killing.
Where are the body camera footage that the officers are supposed to be wearing?
This is a 23 year old woman with 2 children who allegedly threatened to kill police officers with a shotgun over traffic violations? This woman is ready to shoot it out with the cops, right there in front of her child and leave both of them orphaned?
It took 6 whole hours for the police going back and forth with her for them to finally kill her and injure her 5 yr old son at the same time?
They entered her apartment with a key? Is this their usual procedure? And why is the gunman standing in her apartment peeking in and no one is talking in that second video? How can you be barricaded in an apartment for 6 hrs when the police are obviously in the apartment already?
A male suspect, who allegedly lived with her and too, had a warrant for his arrest for assault, at first they said he FLED with the 1 yr old son and was caught and is now in custody but they couldn't release any information about him; then they said he LEFT the apartment earlier with the 1 yr old before police got there but they caught up with him then arrested him. But the spokeswoman didn't know where the 1 yr old is.
Heard she posted information on social media about her encounters with the local police.
I watched this too . . .
Why were they at her apartment, due to a warrant over a traffic violations? Doesn't that sound a bit strange? Cops must not have enough to do in B-more other than to go to people's houses, allegedly, with a warrant to arrest them for traffic violations.
I'm glad the family is pursuing this through the courts. What an absolutely senseless killing and leaving 2 children orphaned on top of it.
Now, how do you think those children are going to think about law enforcement and the police as they grow up?
Facebook . . . deactivating her account because the police asked them to and over some bogus reason saying her followers were encouraging her not to comply with the cops? Wow!
Worse, cops shooting into her apartment could have killed her older son, but it seems like they didn't care about that.
Sue ... sue ... sue them!! Won't bring their daughter back but I hope they use the money to raise her babies.
all citizens must obey all police orders ? isn't that what they call a police state ?
those white guys out west do not obey the police. they do not get shot.
Arrogance does not justify being shot dead.
Giving law enforcement a pass to act like they are above the law, is bewildering to say the least.
You are correct, Arianne, there are always different sides and perspectives to a "story." We certainly don't know ALL of the history here but we know someone is dead and children are without a mother. And, as we all see, there's a witness who is disagreeing with the version of the story that the officers are telling. Does that not bear some consideration in your assessment?
Sure, we have the option to be good citizens, but I wonder how many of us here hasn't been guilty at some point in our lives of some law breaking behavior . . . even something as minor as a traffic violation. I've gotten traffic tickets before.
My take is, this isn't a simple black and white situation: Always be good and you won't get punished. Not when you weigh in on all the violence that is swirling around the behavior of many of the police officers in this country.
In the US, being Black is a crime. And when you know that, it has a deep affect on how you think about police officers. So tell the young Black boys who lost their mother at a very young age, that she deserved to die because she was "arrogant" toward police officers and wasn't a "good", law abiding citizen.
