red Alabama clay
between little dark toes
muddy from the rain
where the honeysuckle grows

~

tenement houses,
five flights high
up on the roof
catch-a-piece-of-sky

~

rows of corn fields
for childhood play
tall, green grass
rollin' all day

~

concrete jungle gyms
turn-stile hoppin'
front stoop day-dreamin'/
corner-finger-poppin'

~

back yard bar-b-q's
summer skinny dippin'
catchin' light'nin bugs
& lemonade sippin'

~

three-card monte
street ball playin'
50 meter racin'
fire-hydrant-sprayin'

~

do-drop inn
bathtub gin

~

subway cars
all night bars

~

moonlit lovin'
starry nights~
ghetto heaven
city lights...

...about a million miles &
almost 100 years combined
2 terrestrial bodies collide ~
their souls forever aligned...
