could someone tell me what the city glyph in ancient was made of. What was the philosophy behind the symbol.

The symbol I saw was a circle with an x in the center. I saw also a circle with a dwaf looking figurine in the middle and the x is behind him

    Thanks

but what is the symbol? I see something in the picture that looks like it. it has five goats around it. I want to know is it a wheel, or something else. I saw another symbol like it. It had the figurine (bets I think thats how you pronounce it) in the center with that x also. The symbol can be seen in mexico.

I can not help you unless you break each symbol down. For example, how many characters do you see in total?

I don't know if it has a character letter or not. I just want to know what is the symbol (circle with the x). I want to understand why they use that symbol to say this is a town or city.

Ok I got it. That is a glyph which represents a city or town. In this case, the town of Nekhen. It is a circle with an x which is similar to the circle and star used on a modern atlas to represent a capital city.

See Budge's hieroglyphic dictionary p. cxxvii, A list of hieroglyphic characters.

I cannot explain to you WHY they chose that particular symbol, but it is used today on maps, when the structural engineers were laying down their designs on a massive scale they had to use a common symbol, and that is why they used it.
