First he was simply “KD.” Then sportswriters pushed the popular moniker “Slim Reaper.” Now, NBA superstar Kevin Durant is promoting his own nickname: “The Servant.”

Although basketball fans had warmly embraced “Slim Reaper,” Durant rejected it. ”I’m not here to be a guy of, I guess, death,” the Oklahoma City small forward told a local publication.

“I like to serve everybody. My teammates. Ushers at the game. The fans,” Durant said recently,

    Ushers at the game??? Really?

    C'mon Son

"I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy. I mean, that's a storybook, man."

Well, at least he didn't go with "The Butler"... so I guess we have to grin and move on. :)

Servant maybe an offset from the term server, I served u or you got served. Many b-ball players used this term in the park back in the 1980's thru the 2000's.

Servant does take on a different connotation IMO. Maybe he should just chuck the nickname altogether.

They even maybe a movie with this title though the movie is about dancing, it's the same philosophy.
