man i just want to chill
not always having to worry about a bill
to pay
i just want to parlay
until
the break of day
watching the sun rays
and the children play
as swings sway
walking in the preserve
seeing the flowers in may
while keeping the shade tree
at bay
driving down halstead with
the feeling everything going to be ok
i wish every day
it could be like this
golden touch like king midas
without having 5-0 ride us
just because of my color
and my hairstyle
if that type ish didn’t exist
id live my life in sheer bliss
now aint that wild
to just be chillin
just wielding
your wits and common sense
lips smacking from double mints
and staying out of the trouble tents
that serves hot dogs with condiments
it would be chill
if i could roll with full tints
but it would really be chill
if all brothers and sisters caught the hints
and no young cats
are spoken of past tense
past sentiments
wait, it would be supa chill
if when the winter hits
it really did not get that cold
cause that type of chillin
kills the old
and the bold
but the titanic chill
would be if no black folks ever sold
cause not staying true to yourself
is a heavy load

so in order to chill
keep a map on life’s winding wet road

as i continue to chill
and reconize the real
