I was told to take every mistake as a lesson learned
But I miss taking down lessons learning
I was told that life is precious
But I pressed life to its limits
I was told to stand tall even when I do fall
So what is one to do when standing while falling?

Had I one pen, I’d write down all these things
And had I an ear, I’d rehearse these words every day
While singing my endless tragedies and my drowning memories
    Of old sayings
About how things will soon change
When I changed the things stayed the same, and
While kicking my feet from the swing
I begin to remember the days when simple things never mattered
Like waking up lookin in the fridge to find no Kool-aid
Or walking in the restroom finding no toilet paper
    Boy have things changed.
I begin to remember the days when mother was my protector
    And brother was the neglector
Daring me to touch his things
Now there is no such thing as living in the moment
    But it is momentarily living
No such thing as crying to remember the memories
But instead it is, crying for forgotten memories

    Just be cool
    They’d tell me
Never sit there and allow anyone to play you for a fool
Let them know you can play the “I don’t know ****” role too
“Stop crying all of the time, ****!”
    Yeah that’s what she’d say
“Crying only reminds the enemy of your weaknesses
How to approach them, eat them, and spit them out at YOU
So don’t you be played for no fool”
    Just be cool…
Reminds me of times I’d write just to be writing
Like eating when you’re hungry them come to find out
    You weren’t really hungry
    Hungry for knowledge
And knowledge was hungry for me
    To her I give thanks
    To mother I listen
To mother I am hungry for food
Like poets are hungry for words
    To chew
Swallow, and spit them right back at YOU
So here is the food I once swallowed
And now I will spit them back at U

    Be me
    I be
    See me
    I see
    Know I
    No I won’t!
    Be played for no fool
    Understand-n the world
    Glorify the girls
    Twirl-n those sticks
    Of African American heri-tige
Can give a **** if I misspelled IT
    Kiss and smell this ****
    Love and hate this ****
    I am this ****
    Wrap me
    Store me
Look dead at me without see-n me
Rise above but never reach me
Listen but never quite understand me
    I run quickly
    I am the stool
    Never been cool in school
    Shine bright like the jewels
Of old thieves crack up their sleeves
Quick to recite some poetic, slammin, hot cakes, bacon, with eggs and a glass of milk on the side TYPE poetry
    Still will never be ME
    Me is who I BE
Never been played for no fool
Can PLAY the “I don’t know ****” role too
When we all know good and well that I DO!!!….

    To be cont’d

You know, your style is chocked full of lines that cause one to pause, and ponder... your poetry is so rich. So great to simply exist in a state of just "being". Do flow on.
