    just another night
    having some fun
kicking it on the dance floor
    trying to run a game
    on old girl
I got so much to live for
I'm young with plenty of time
just want to have a good time
    Dj spinning the latest cuts
    while in the background
    two females
    debate then argue
    over
    what seems to me
    to be some trivial pursuit
    this club is jumping
    never would have guessed
    they supposed to be shutdown
    but how can they
this one of the most popular spots
they be making mad money up in here
man those 2 females getting louder
oh oh now they friends getting into it
security will be here afterwhile to settle it down
kicking back my hennesy and coke
    see I knew it
    here comes security
    this gonna be good
and you know..Hey what the !!
I know that ain't pepper spray
man its 1500 deep up in here
no windows and only one way out
gotta make my break for the door
    dang
    old girl got pushed down
her face mangled from being trampled on
saw two girls duck into the bathroom
smart move but they on the other side of the club
too far for me to make it
    anyway there's the door
    just a few more fee...!!
awww somebody yanked me back and I just hit the floor
scores of folks stampeding on me
I think I can crawl under this table
    but this spray
causing a reaction...got my asthma kicking up
    can't breathe
    pain searing in my lungs
    man
    what about my kids
who gonna take care of them
I ain't gonna see them grow up
    everything going black
    getting hot in here
    can't keep my eyes open
my lungs are bursting from my chest
I got so much to live for
I'm young with plenty of time
just want to a good ti....

    RIP 2-18-2003

Very poignant, realistic flow, Bishop. I was following the story as it unfolded throughout the day...in communication with folks out your way...hoping no loved ones I knew had decided to step out to E2...maybe for the first time, that night.

I pray for all families who lost their loved ones in such a needless tragedy. This world has enough ills going on.... can't even have a night out anymore, just in fun...

Oh my goodness. I got lost in this piece so deeply. You put the reader right there at the scene. This was such a **** tragedy, but you never know when you are going to go. Very well written & very disturbing.....

    in college

i had a female friend that would always call me
to go to different frat parties since i didn't reside
on campus i hardly knew of the outside activities
going on nor did i prefer going to clubs

many of these clubs were like holes in the walls

anyway...a fight with gunfire blasting broke out people
nearly stampeded over me to death it was by the grace
of GOD the door flew open so i could get outside

my friend who invited me was too scared to even move
when i tried to carry her with me out of there

when she was finally able to get out, she was crying with
tears and grabbed and hugged me i was like girl we can
do all these mushy stuff later  let's get in the car and GO!

she would still call and invite me out to frat parties when
they arose but i don't think i ever went to another after
    that one

my prayers go out to the people who died in the outbreak

    peace

    pd

A minister friend of mine had to accompany some of the family members to the morgue...it was rough for him....

This club is one of the most popular night spots in chitown...has gone through a lot of changes and names but was always the spot with a lot of peeps...

Bish, this was deep brother. A most unfortunate situation. When I was out that way about a year ago this brother told me that was the spot. I ended up checking out some other club. Anyway, nice scribe brother. May God be with all the victim's families. peace.
