i'm just a girl
with stars in my eyes
despite the many attempts
to dim them
my head may be in the clouds
but is that such a bad place to be

i'm just a girl
with a broken heart
that still somehow
believes in love
i may be a glutton for punishment
but there's no life without it

i'm just a girl
no one special
and i'm getting nosebleeds
from this pedestal
i really don't belong here
i've done nothing to deserve it

because...

i'm just a girl
who stood before him
and asked him to love me
but i don't think he heard
