    The thoughts of today
    have saddened as I
    reflect upon the paths
    through the journey’s of life;

    looking through tinted glass
    the direction is unclear with
    places of pain hidden by a veil
    of protection, security and trust;

    which way shall I go is the voice
    I hear as I follow the lead of truth
    And the strength of faith to find the
    Life of love in a meadow of peace;

    And within this place I see you
    Holding close to trinkets of past
    Chapters of present and empty pages
    Of tomorrow being soaked by tears;

    I want to ask the reason why you cry so
    that I can embrace the reason with my coat
    of comfort but when I draw near I see the
    reason is more than the fear of letting go;

    I see these things as names not events,
    People, not places, those whom you
    Once loved and never believed would
    cause such pain and disappointment;

    So I step back...to reflect and ask
    if I could help you to release while my
    Arms are filled with reminders of what
    I have done and where I have been;

    But my desire to comfort you leads me
    To drop what I hold, freeing my hands to
    Stretch them towards you in hope that my
    Love will be the guiding light upon your path;

    And I smile to see you begin to loose
    Some of the trinkets you hold, tearing
    away pages of the present and looking
    to extend your hand towards mine;

    your tears become greater causing
    your hands to loose their tightened
    grasp on the pieces you hold closest
    covering them from the rain of tears;

    but the closer you get to me, the greater
    the tears and the stronger you hold to the
    trinkets making me want to move closer to
    you, shortening the space between you and I;

    but if I move closer to you, you move back...
    back into the place of security where change is
    defeated and release is subdued so I understand
    that compromise is not an option if love is true;

    so I stand my ground awaiting you to meet me
    where I am being strong for us both, praying that
    if your love is true then you will move towards
    destiny as the painful tears pull you from your place;

    And I shall never bring hand to face
    For I fear that any attempt to soothe
    the pain will erase the path that your
    Tears you shed will journey to freedom...

    just a few more steps...you can make it

    A beautiful incentive for one to move just a bit closer, hopefully, eventually there will be enough trust to do so. This piece makes the reader long for those last few steps to be taken also. I was into this piece poet.

    This is immensely moving. You have a great way of drawing the reader in to walk right with you through the verses.
