    JOB DESCRIPTION

    Executive Director, Connecticut Juvenile Justice Alliance


    Education Required: Masters degree in juvenile and/or criminal justice, human services policy development, a law degree or related field.

    Experience: 7 years of progressive leadership in juvenile and/or criminal justice with experience in policy development, legislative and administrative advocacy, planning, administration, fund development, board development, and collaborative processes.

    Position Goal: To provide vision and leadership for the accomplishment of the Connecticut Juvenile Justice Alliance strategic plan.

    Reports To: Connecticut Juvenile Justice Alliance Steering Committee

    Salary: $70,000 – $80,000 commensurate with education and experience

    Responsibilities:

     Provide staff assistance for the Alliance Steering Committee, Finance and Fund Development Committee and the working committees of the Alliance.
     Oversee and administer the Strategic Plan
     Identify, establish and maintain relationships with local, state and national policy makers
     Represent the Alliance on various local, state and national task forces and committees related to the goals of the Alliance
     Prepare policy papers and educational materials on juvenile justice issues
     Oversee the development of at least two major policy forums per year
     Oversee the communications strategy of the Alliance including media, publications and website
     Develop and implement community mobilization strategies to achieve the Alliance’ goals
     Develop and implement an Alliance recruitment and membership plan
     Meet regularly with state and local policy officials (Commissioners, division heads, elected officials, community leaders, child advocacy and support organizations, etc.)
     Develop and implement a strategy for parent and youth participation in all Alliance advocacy and educational activities
     Ensure youth voice and diversity on the Alliance Steering Committee and all working committees of the Alliance
     Design and manage the Alliance fund development process and bear responsibility for financial management of the Alliance
     Prepare grants and reports to funders as required
     Supervise and evaluate staff and interns of the Alliance
     Research best practices for juvenile justice reform, summarize these strategies and develop a plan for replicating these practices in Connecticut
