Weekly issues from 1950 to 2005 can be read for free on Google books..
I was looking for some information on Malcolm X.. what stands out about
these magazines is how hard they promote the european image of beauty..
almost all the covers are of very very light skinned women with european
features.. anyway.. I found what I was looking for.. here is the issue that
covered his life and death: http://books.google.com/books?id=lMADAAAAMBAJ

I used to go out with a dark-skinned sister who posed in one of the copies of the Jet Magazine within this time frame. She was in the beauty of the week section. She looks a lot like Denise Boutte (Meet The Browns). I don't know if those were European features, but I do know one thing, she was fine, and still is to this day. But I'm not sure if posing in that bikini helped her future marriage. I mentioned her once before on this forum. She was the one I said went out on a dinner date with Bill Cosby in the 80's. She said he acted the same character he did in those Jello Pudding commercials. I'm sure he wasn't thinking about none of those kids though...lol. She said she never seen him again. She did professional modeling, but she wasn't the type that would be hanging out in some Playboy mansion.
