ROCHESTER, Minn. (AP) — Illinois Congressman Jesse Jackson Jr., whose whereabouts haven't been disclosed since he quietly took a medical leave from Congress several weeks ago, is being treated for depression at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota, according to a statement released by the hospital.
Jackson is undergoing an extensive inpatient evaluation for depression and for gastrointestinal issues, the hospital said, providing the first details about his medical condition. But the statement released late Friday didn't disclose where the longtime Chicago congressman, the son of civil rights leader Jesse Jackson, had previously been staying.

Rev. Jesse Jackson: No Timetable on Son's Recovery

The Rev. Jesse Jackson said there is "no timetable" as his son, U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr., recovers from depression and gastrointestinal issues at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota.
The elder Jackson spoke to reporters Saturday outside a downtown Chicago movie theater. The civil rights leader was with protesters in support of a ban on assault weapons.
"There is no timetable on his recovery," Jackson said. "We hope he will fully recover."

Mayo Clinic: Jackson has bipolar depression

CHICAGO (AP) — U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr., a Chicago Democrat who took a hushed medical leave two months ago, is being treated for bipolar disorder, the Mayo Clinic announced Monday.
The Rochester, Minn.-based clinic specified his condition as Bipolar II, which is defined as periodic episodes of depression and hypomania. Hypomania is a less serious form of mania.
"Congressman Jackson is responding well to the treatment and regaining his strength," the clinic said in a statement.

Without even getting into the details of what he has been accused of, it's plain to see that someone doesn't want him talking, period! So even if he makes it home safely from the clinic, whose going to believe him now that he will drugged up if he happens to have to go to trial...

What could he possibly be 'depressed' about?

Yeah, i saw that the first time i read it, but why would he be depressed about that? He's a politician and if he can't, all daddy has to do is call in a favor and his name is cleared just like in the past.

I mean do we really think that he just all of a sudden became 'depressed' & 'unethical' around the same time?

Thus, the question what could this guy be depressed about? It's surely not any pending charges against him.

Some would say and make the argument that just being a politician is in and of itself unethical.

Can anyone name an ethical politician?

    "don't worry, i'll wait"

... We may not ever know the answer to your question. His father has said this, which caps it all, at least for me:

That's really nothing new. This is how most politicians get and repay favors, like when Pelosi endoresed the guy prematurely by accident, on purpose at a FORUM at the Rainbow Push headquarters. Also, how she i believe is the one who stepped in on his behalf during the scandal of him having an affair and they were scared he would loose the female vote. So she stepped in and stood by his side.

This is just how the game is played. If Pelosi hasn't already, i'm sure she will be right there by his side again doing damage control, but best believe she get's the favor returned.

Didn't one of his EX-fund raisers recently get arrested by the FBI?? So this has been brewin' for a lil bit and he may be trying to distance himself from the paper trail....

The only thing i can see that he could be depressed about is his choice of barbers. I mean his T.W.A. (teenie weenie afro) been leanin' a bit to far to the left for a minute.....:peekk:
