A co-worker asked me to put a pc together for her. We go to the computer store and get her parts, one of the things she got was a used 80gig hard drive. I have a program that recovers erased data. One of the things recovered was jamesfrmphilly's avatar. Just spent half the night wondering how it got there, or who the drive belonged to.

LOL maybe you picked up an old hard drive of his.
Or at least a member here or someone who has surfed here when you surf sites with images the pc will often download and store them automatically.
If you want a more tramatic dramatic explanation maybe you picked up a harddrive of someone stalking and saving all pics of him.lol
I am assuming the avatar is him? not everyone puts up a pic of themselves but of some famed person that looks like them since they don't want their image up but want someone who represents what they look like so put up pics of people who bear a resemblence to them..
But since I don't recongnize the guy in his pic as anyone famous I assume its him?
Of course if it turns out he ever had a pc stolen from him he may start asking you to return the parts to him LOL

LOL well maybe its just someone who surfed this site at some point if you check out the temp internet folder on any HD they store a lot of images from sites you surf even without anyone making a deliberate effort to store them, maybe who ever "sold" those pc parts to the store had surfed this place and your pic was downloaded to their HD without any deliberate effort on their part.
And if its a fan club maybe your get lucky and they will send you cash if its a stalker your more likely to have to spend cash on getting rid of them..JK

Must have been a few other things there that could have hinted at some aspect(s) of that original owner.

(Kinda cool that the two of us up here in "GatesLand" both tinker with PCs, eh? Do you have any of that there "business sense", such that, maybe, we could get something started?)

On the other hand: I'd feel a bit creepy myself if somebody way across the country said something like this! Don't matter what anybody says; the human subconscious is gonna have somebody tripped over this for a while!

Supportive Thoughts and Energies going out to ya, jamesfrmphilly!!

No business sense whatsoever. What I do is repair electronics, radios, dvds, cds, amps, etc. Putting puters together is a hobby. I only do pcs for friends that way I don't have charge anything.
