Want to shed a tear, but
    can't, it's beyond me
How can a person be so lost
beyond which they can even see
    themselves, lost because of fear,
because of the span of time
spent here in an endless cycle
    seemingly sublime
    in knowing, but not knowing
    not growing
talking about things that happened years
ago, as though they just occurred today...
    Perhaps he actually envisions current
    events that way...
I have known him for a lifetime
but what have I allowed myself to realize?
Maybe I have only looked at the moments of his
life and times that have been easy on my eyes.
Could be that I am knowing, without knowing
Knowing that you weren't really growing...
There is still time to repair
you're never to old to learn
Life offers more chances to truly live it
and he can still take his turn.
He says it will take a while to get himself
out of this chasm, but he will.
    Hoping he won't wait until
    he's too old to do
all that he attempted to set his mind to.
Praying that when he asks himself, where did all
the years go, he won't reply in all sincerity,
    I don't know,
    it's beyond me....

    This ending is hardhitting...
    because the reality is
    that there are millions who
    will wear these shoes
    and speak those words...

Make your time count...is what I think
    strive for enlightenment and awareness
but most of all have fun
    is what I'm striving for
I only have one life to live
    gotta make it count

    "Thought provoking piece sis"!

The situation, the feeling, and the growth. That order is needed to rise above any adversity. You did your thing in this piece and even reminded me of someone... :haha:

    Xcellent sribe

    Very nice Watz

I believe I can understand how one can become lost. Stuck in time, desiring everything to freeze if they freeze. It’s like taking a picture, and they keep staring at that photo. It is a false desire. But hard to get someone out of, because the justification of the past and events happening in the future. Are so close to them and to them is one in the same.

They see no difference and reason to change. Unfortunately they get left behind and are truly lost. Folks say don’t live in the past. It would be like saying don’t recall the good times. You have spent with someone special like a parent or grandparent. Forget the wrongs someone did to you five years ago. Forget the fact that you were locked up unjustly, that I hurt you yesterday. The line doesn’t stop there, the past is understanding. For some the past needs addressing, before they feel they can move on. Or into the present. If more could be done, if things were changed so that one could get things addressed. You would less of this.

Look in the yellow pages. You will see dozens of attorneys that state they are there to take your injury case, your wrong-full termination case, your land and property case, your incarceration case and just about anything that can go wrong. In every instance I have experienced. The attorneys would say “ I didn’t have a case “ or they were not interested. Even after I paid the two-hundred an hour some required for an hour consultation. Now to me that was a lie. That was a cope out.

I once wrote and asked an attorney. Are cases turned down because they aren’t large enough to justify your time. Or are cases turned down because your schedule is full? Then I asked him. Why don’t attorneys take cases that are larger than small claims cases and put them on a calendar? File those cases as his / her schedule freed up, but before the statue of limitations expired. I expressed to him that this would relieve many frustration many in America feel when they are shut out of the system of addressing wrongs.

Folks wouldn't feel like they need to take things into their own hands. There would less depression. Drug use, murder and crime. Psychiatrist would be hard up for business.

I never got a reply back for my question!

Talking about things that happened years ago. Occurrences and incidents that are glossed over. Ignored happenings that are not talked about.

Unless it is history to be time-honored and admired. Presented by an historian who wouldn't be in business. Unless he / she made recalls those moments and points in history. Showing them and making them currently live in the minds of us. Who see and hear about it in this present day.

To ignore the past, of many wrongs. Continue like nothing is actually wrong. Leaves more than the victim. It leaves survivors and those who still need answers. For the same type of incidents and events that appear to never stop.

I really think that the one thing that may give us a push is the fact that...
"We can't turn back the hands of time" so to have idle time sitting in our hands says to me, I'm not using my time wisely.
wonderful write up watz, yeah, I like where you took this one.

Well family, this wasn't the easiest piece to write, especially since it's about kin and all. It's been one of those weeks where I often had to pause, say umph, umph, umph, and go on about my day...anywho...

Yes, sage we should make as many moments of our lives count as possible. It's that should part that gets in the way sometimes. Glad you found this piece to be thought provoking, thanks sista poet.
Nfinite, we do have to actually feel situations to get past them, and sometimes we turn numb. I'm sorry that this reminds you of someone. Thank you for your kind words.
Good to know that my words drew you into this piece Godssoulja. Thank you poet of the week.
Hodee, I so get what you're saying. A person can get frozen in time because to move forward would mean to actually live "beyond" some experiences, not just relive them. The work(pain) it would take to get past these experiences seems to be too excruciating to bear. I appreciate your words of wisdom regarding this. Thank you brotha.
